Wow. Surprised at the audacity and corruption but not really. Great work. I hope, for the sake of our state, that this gets all the attention it deserves and that the hammer is brought down upon them.
Excellent article. DeSoros took millions $$ in insurance company money for his presidential campaign. CFO Patronis did the same. This whole insurance industry is one big corrupt scam. Now DeSoros has completely screwed homeowners with these new laws and helped insurance companies. DeSoros wouldn't win at a local mayoral race with how many people hate him now.
I leave everyone with one last thought, well they're crying about being insolvent I believe it was in 2021 that citizens reported a surplus of 7 billion dollars. At the same time I want you to think about all these insolvent companies and companies they say that they're going to become insolvent and research what the salaries and benefit packages are for their executives from the CEO on down. Well they're in solvent they're making millions of dollars for themselves personally plus expense accounts that are envied by royalty. With luxurious retreats private planes, automobiles and again great benefit packages. I wonder how many of those CEOs CFOs and coos have ended up poor after so-called insolvencies? It's laughable they're all millionaires. Worse yet all these companies that go and solve it and close down, after a few years start looking at all the new companies that start opening up in Florida and start looking at their executives who are they, you're going to find out that it's the same executives all that they do is they open up milk the cow shut it down collect and then repeat. It's a huge scam, and you're also going to find out that a lot of these executives were were and are very politically connected. For example who remembers Tom Gallagher he was our insurance commissioner couple decades ago. Where is he now? Well for a good long time he's also been the Chief financial officer for people's trust insurance. If you want to see a real operation that looks like it was put together by the mob look at them.
The governor by his actions has stripped away the common people of any ability to defend themselves and for the right to be heard in a court of law. While these companies have the means to hire large law firms, regular people do not. The only way is when the prevailing party is able to be paid by the losing party. Why is this a problem to begin with? If the insurance companies are so righteous and they're not doing anything wrong then they should prevail in court. Factors they lose nine out of 10 times because there is no wide scales fraud, except the one perpetrated by the insurance companies that every single claim is either denied or grossly underpaid with excuses like wear and tear lack of maintenance or that the roof is too old, yet they inspect properties prior to binding the insurance. So whatever condition they try to use as an excuse not to pay a claim they were well aware of the actual conditions prior to giving coverage. Truth be told when you look at these inspection reports and the photographs the houses were in good conditions at the time they received insurance coverage. The insurance companies they are the ones that come in insurance fraud on a daily basis but they are sheltered from everything. They collect the premiums and do not want to pay when there's a claim.
And please don't be fooled, well it's true that they have to pay or should pay for the damages caused by hurricane Ian, keep in mind that the damages were not to every single property in the state of Florida yet insurance companies are collecting premiums for every single property in the state of Florida.
Mr. Swift I have no idea who you however, I would tend to guess you are someone who makes his living working for insurance companies. Frankly speaking, I have all the documents to prove what I have stated.
I'm guessing that you're an appraiser or an insurance adjuster or something having to do with the insurance companies. Because I've known Scott for quite a while and while he's rough around the edges I'll give you that I cannot agree with you on him not being a credible source. He is extremely detailed and he only comes in with facts everything that he has ever presented as far as I know and see myself as always been backed up with real documentation. Again he's rough around the edges and he's very passionate about what he does and it reflects at times with his aggressive approach which by the way has only served in the best interest of the people and homeowners that he's represented, but he is no liar.
I think it's more than the local insurance. The re-insurers, many of them in Switzerland, insure the local insurers, in case of insufficient capitalization.
I wonder how much the bankruptcy of the banks there affected re-insurers.
Bottom line, some things are simply not insurable at any cost. Most folks don't want to hear this.
I'm not sure if you realize what the biggest issue is here. It's the David versus Goliath story, only this time the governor took David's sling and Rockaway, and followed up by time both his hands behind his back and blindfolding him. While at the same time giving Goliath completely immunity any license to print money without any repercussions for bad faith. In short next storm that comes the insurance company will have the ability to say that your roof failed because of where and tear and deferred maintenance which by the way it's one other copy and paste responses to roof claims, and unlike in the past where a homeowner could seek help through an attorney and have their case hurting Court, now they are not able to do this because even if they would to prevail in court the insurance company does that have to pay for their legal fees. So what is left? If the attorney is willing to take it and contingency if the case is dragged all the way to trial the attorney will not make any money because the cost to litigate is way too high for it to be covered when the 30 or 35% draw against recovery on a claim to a regular house. And even if the attorney was willing to do that, at the end of the day the homeowner was not made whole, because by having to give up 35% to an attorney they are 35% short of the money they need to property fix their home. But please keep in mind that there is no way that a law firm is going to invest $150 or $200,000 during a 5-year period to take to trial of $60,000 claim in which at best the attorneys are only going to be able to get 20 or 22,000 in a contingency agreement. The homeowners and property owners have been left defenseless. I say follow the money I'm sure it will lead back to the DeSantis. From day one he's been way way too eager to hurry up and pass under emergency sessions three different bills all benefiting insurance companies and completely stripping homeowners of any right or chance to defend themselves against the bad players.
Outstanding investigative work,, Laura! And really disgusting.
Wow. Surprised at the audacity and corruption but not really. Great work. I hope, for the sake of our state, that this gets all the attention it deserves and that the hammer is brought down upon them.
I hope Trump goes after DeSoros when he’s back in office.
The Larry Keefe/Jimmy Patronis mafia is going to have their hands full!
They may ask Montgomerie for a chopper ride to El Salvador in a hurry.

This is 100% true. People have now seen the true DeSantis and they don't like him one little bit.

wish you would present these so i do t have to read so much😂
I think Mike Ruskin and Wind would disagree.
I was with you until you referenced Scott Thomas as a credible source.

When I moved to FL, I was appalled at all the brazen corruption here. Reminded me of Huey Long in early 20th century Louisiana. Both parties.
I'm selling my condo and moving to my little home in Mexico.
