The 2024 presidential election is shaping up to be an all-out slugfest. Establishment forces are working overtime in their efforts to stack the deck against President Donald Trump. Recently, I exclusively reported and uncovered a major conflict of interest that exists in the current leadership of the Florida Republican Party, including Republican Party of Florida (RPOF) Chair Christian Ziegler, and Vice Chair Evan Power, which undermines their requirement to be neutral in the Florida Republican Presidential primary.
In the case of Ziegler, his wife Bridget is actively campaigning for DeSantis’s Presidential campaign, while Power’s wife Melissa is the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of DeSantis’ campaign!
On top of being the current DeSantis campaign CFO, Mrs. Power was reportedly in charge of the Governor’s finances during his 2022 campaign.
Chairman Ziegler’s wife, on top of her public support for DeSantis’ campaign, is currently employed by the Leadership Institute, a group that despite its stated mission of “Providing training for youth in campaigns, grassroots organizing, and communication,” has begun shifting resources to launch what is widely considered a grassroots operation in support of DeSantis.
Chairman Ziegler himself has also made public statements boosting DeSantis’ prospects for the White House:
Since I exposed this clear conflict of interest, Powers responded to Floridian Press reporter Javier Manjarres with a bad-faith deflection.
“It's not against the rules. It’s a circular bullshit argument,” said Power. “The party has nothing to do with the primary.”
While it is technically true that the RPOF doesn’t run the primary elections, they do have a lot of power when it comes to seating delegates at the Republican National Convention (RNC), where the Republican nominee for President is ultimately selected.
While the delegates selected in Florida are supposed to be bound to the candidate who won the primary election, it is not uncommon for rogue delegates to attempt to skirt that duty and instead support the candidate of their choice.
During the 2016 RNC in Cleveland, Ohio, the Never Trump faction of the Party went so far as to attempt to change convention rules to permit rogue delegates to ignore the will of the voters and deny Trump the nomination.
The leader of that Never Trump last-stand was Ken Cuccinelli, who founded the pro-DeSantis Super PAC Never Back Down.
With the prospects of DeSantis’ presidency declining with every new poll, don’t be shocked when the dirty tricks roll out. Top DeSantis figures, like Ken Cuccinelli, have already proven they aren’t above stealing the nomination on the convention floor. Corrupt Party officials biased against President Trump would be instrumental in pulling off such a heist.
