It is becoming more and more evident that the MAGA base is beginning to take a backseat to the Big Tech billionaires who want to control the levers of power in the second Trump administration.

While America was celebrating the holiday season with church services, family dinners, and a brief respite from the year’s tensions, a very different story was unfolding in MAGA world. Headlines from Donald Trump’s transition team over the last 2 weeks have centered not on the holiday cheer and the excitement of the upcoming inauguration, but instead on Elon Musk and the controversial issue of eliminating caps on H1-B visas. Unfortunately for Elon, these headlines have been anything but flattering. Over the course of a few days, he and the so-called “tech right” launched a relentless campaign to defend the unfettered influx of foreign workers—particularly from India—brought in under the H1-B visa system to replace American workers with foreigners. What followed was nothing short of a spectacular fall from grace by proponents of DOGE, as Musk and other tech billionaires alienated the MAGA base. We watched X, the social media company owned by Musk, rapidly turn into a tool of censorship against H1-B visa critics, whom he referred to on X as “subtards” and “contemptible fools” who needed to be purged from the GOP.
How did Elon Musk, the world’s richest man, become a darling of the Right and an influential figure in Donald Trump’s orbit? Many of you may recall that before this summer, Musk styled himself as politically neutral. He had donated to Obama’s campaign a decade ago, he voted for Joe Biden, and only occasionally hinted at having libertarian-leaning views. He even publicly expressed support for Governor Ron DeSantis’s Presidential primary against President Trump. It wasn’t until the near-assassination attempt of President Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13th, 2024 that Musk publicly aligned himself with Trump’s re-election bid and endorsed his campaign for President.
But, Elon was not the only wealthy Silicon Valley executive to suddenly throw their weight behind Trump. The addition of J.D. Vance as President Trump’s running mate earlier this year appeared to galvanize a new wave of tech elites into supporting the campaign. Vance, known for his ties to billionaire investor Peter Thiel, brought with him a network of influential donors from the tech world. Soon, figures like David Sacks, Peter Thiel, Elon Musk, the executives and cofounders of Palantir, Jeff Bezos, and even Mark Zuckerberg cozied up to Trump’s campaign, opening their wallets in the process. Their motives were clear: a second Trump administration offered the promise of policies favorable to their industries and expanded influence over the levers of power in Washington.
Fast forward to Christmas.
Trump had secured re-election, and his second-term administration was beginning to take shape. With each passing day, announcements were being made about new appointments to key positions. Musk was tapped to head the newly proposed Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) with Vivek Ramaswamy. Sacks was named the “Crypto and AI Czar.” One after another, Silicon Valley’s elite seemed to be angling for a seat at the table. For many loyal conservatives, such as myself, this has been a bitter pill to swallow. These tech titans, who only recently jumped on the MAGA bandwagon after years of Trump hatred and criticism, have now secured positions of power despite their questionable conservative credentials.
The final straw for me that forced my hand into publicly speaking out was the appointment of Sriram Krishnan as Trump’s new AI advisor. Krishnan, a vocal advocate for expanding legal immigration, has long championed the H1-B visa system—a program originally intended to provide temporary, high-skilled workers for specialized industries. This is NOT how the system works though. It is being abused to provide a pipeline of cheap, foreign labor often at the expense of American workers. Musk and his fellow Big Tech bros would have you believe that they seek only “geniuses” from abroad to fill positions at Tesla and the various other companies that are utilizing H1-B visa workers. Or as they like to call them, “the best and the brightest”, because Silicon Valley thinks we just don’t have any bright people here in America to do these technical jobs.
In reality, the majority of H1-B visas are now being given out for such mundane jobs as fast food and customer service representatives. Moreover, these temporary positions are rarely ever temporary. Instead, these people often find ways to overstay their visas, or find loopholes to stay here in America permanently, which is why we have such a high number of illegal aliens living in the US. Contrary to popular belief, many of the illegals who are living in America were able to get into our country legally, but they are now overstaying their visa.
Understand that the H1-B visa system is crushing the American worker. Consider the story of a young, white man from middle America. He works hard, excels in high school, and earns a degree in computer science with dreams of working for companies like SpaceX or Meta. But, when he graduates with a 4.0 GPA, he finds that his résumé is consistently overlooked in favor of foreign workers who often arrive through the H1-B system, sometimes with exaggerated or fabricated qualifications. This isn’t an isolated story—it’s the sad reality for countless Americans who now find themselves unemployed or unable to find jobs in the sectors for which they earned a degree in, saddling themselves instead with broken dreams and endless student loan debt.
The driving force behind this system is clear: tech companies want to keep labor costs low. In a world obsessed with profit margins, stockholder value, and GDP growth, it seems the identity of the worker doesn’t matter—so long as the job is done at the lowest possible cost.
When I raised concerns about Krishnan’s appointment to the Trump administration on X, and when I posted publicly available FEC records that contained a publicly available address tied to Krishnan’s political donations, which prove that Krishnan donated to anti-Trump Democrats less than one month before the 2024 Presidential election, Musk and his allies launched an all-out defense of the H1-B system, and I was accused of “doxxing” Krishnan, which led to the censorship of my account on X and a twelve hour suspension from X. As criticism from other right-wing voices grew louder, the behavior of the Big Tech executives on X became increasingly erratic. Evidently, cheap Indian labor is the hill that they were willing to die on.
Musk began to lash out with tweets that told any critic of H1-B’s to “fuck yourself in the face.”
He called anyone pushing back against him “trolls” and “attention seeking.”
He liked tweets that likened the American people to “retards” somehow incapable of staffing these tech jobs. He argued that anyone not in favor of taking in unlimited Indians actually wanted China to “win” and he called for critics of H1-B visas to be purged from the Republican Party. Note that China is not tripping over themselves to import these mythical Indian geniuses.
Then, in an ironic twist of fate, X, the “free speech absolutist” app launched a wave of censorship, diversification, and shadowbanning on X against myself and dozens of other right-wing accounts. For the crime of disagreeing on this critical issue, I had my blue verification badge removed from my X account, and my reach was intentionally throttled. I was also demonetized by X and all of my paying subscribers were taken away from me with no explanation from X. Other accounts such as those of New York Young Republicans President Gavin Wax, Infowars host Owen Shroyer, and political commentator Nick Fuentes met a similar fate. Others were permanently banned entirely.
In a matter of days, many people found themselves asking if Musk was a free speech hypocrite. The man who once championed free speech and American exceptionalism has now been accused by many on the right of betraying those principles to protect his business interests and a deeply flawed immigration system. Yesterday, after being stripped of my verification badge for over a week, it was finally reinstated without explanation, but the damage has been done.
Let me be clear, foreign immigration to this nation, both legal and illegal, is destroying this country. We cannot continue to inundate America with more and more foreigners. What exactly is the point of beating China if it costs us our identity? Who cares if our economy is better if we look like New Delhi? None of it matters if this place, our home, and if the American people are unrecognizable. At some point, we all have to take a step back and realize that GDP is NOT what makes a nation worth living in. We have to be able to say enough is enough. America First isn’t just a bumper sticker or a slogan. It’s a lifestyle. Big Tech billionaires would be wise to understand that sooner or later if they don’t want to be the ones who find themselves purged from the MAGA movement.
You are spot on with your analysis.
I'd love to continue to trust our GREAT PresidentTrump, but seeing you get bashed, fried and anhilated on "X" even after you issued a sincere apology, is really troubling. And you still have not gotten back your blue check and subscribers. FreeSpeech on "X" seems to be only for the Musk-approved accounts. But, what truly pisses me off is your colleagues on "X" have scattered. None of them have come to your defense, when it's clear that you would have come to theirs.
You have been a staunch supporter of PresidentTrump, even researching Ergoron, Merchan and their anti-Trump families. Honestly, I do not know what to think at this point after the TechGuys seem to have gotten an entire table complete with seats at the TrumpAdmin.
I guess we'll all have to wait and see and hope that PresidentTrump has the courage to boot them at the first evidence of traitorous signs.
Thanks Laura, great summary of what took place on X. I’m glad your account and subscribers have been fully restored. And i apologize for being tough on you, it was misdirected, my ire was really meant for Musk. Truly sorry about that. Very happy Musks obvious wrong has been righted. ☮️
